2014 Catching up and carrying on

Greetings...
January fun

Being back in South Africa has given me a fresh mind on what I set out to achieve last year and ultimately what God accomplished. It has also helped me gain perspective on what is next to come. It was great to be back and visit with friends and family and also catch up on news and happenings. Time spent back home was fruitful and prepared me for the year that lies ahead. It was filled with visits and sorry to have missed some of you. For those I didn't see, you may be wondering why I am back in Benin and why for such a short period. I hope that this news letter will help clarify it all.

Towards the end of last year TWR-Benin ask that I extend my time with them and so after careful thought, prayer and need of me there I have extended my time. This gave me a great chance to continue my ministry in Benin as the preparations are made for the next growing season. Thanks to all of you, for your continued support and prayers, to be able to make this possible. Perhaps one can see the preparations as not only preparing for the growing season in Benin but may very well be preparing for my next growing season.

After being a year on the field, I do feel that God is calling me to a more conservation focused ministry. TWR-Benin has that component to it but on a more agricultural than wildlife basis. The wildlife experience gained here has been an experience not easily forgotten. I however feel the need for ministry within the conservation environment a greater pull than in an organisation that is media focused. This is a difficult decision to make as TWR-Benin has been good to me while I have been here, I will surely miss the place.

The plan: I intend on staying in Benin until the end of May. This will allow plenty of time to assist in the preparation for the wet season. Although it still feels uncertain as to where God's placing will be after my term here in Benin. There are many possibilities that may unfold. First and foremost I will still pursue options of getting involved in a ministry focused community-based conservancy within the Ivory Coast. I will be visiting the area during my stay in Benin here. The project may take a while to get off the ground and so in the interim I will be searching other options for where conservation and ministry can co-exist, this may mean I will need to get back and find work while pursuing these options.

All in all it will be a great year, God's placing is so often the current position one is in, but not without planning for the future. It has been a great time already focusing on Benin and getting back into the swing of things. With the container arriving the new equipment arrived, there is now a lot of things that make work here better along with more work to be done.
